Keeping Track
For far too long I've been hating my body and not doing anything about it. So now I'm keeping track of daily calories, fat, carbs and sugar using a free online tool at The Daily Plate. The database of food is amazing - you can enter in just about anything and the nutritional information is there. Even Albuquerque Tortilla Company tortillas! I've kept track for almost a week now, and if I keep up with it, I plan to pay for and upgrade to a Gold account.
I am amazed at how much less I eat since I've been keeping track. Last week at work I passed up cake THREE TIMES! If we have a scale, I don't even know where it is. I don't have a specific number as my goal. It's to feel better and hopefully I'll begin noticing a difference soon.
We also did something food-related today that I've been wanting to do for a very long time. We went to Do It Dinners. It's a business that organizes meals for you. We chose ahead of time from a variety of meals, then we went to this place that has all the food and ingredients ready to go, and made up all the meals at once. Our freezer now has about 30 individual meal servings just waiting to be popped into the oven. Good stuff like chicken wraps, calzones, mozarella chicken - all with heating instructions and nutritional information. EASY! That's key for me in the kitchen.
On a more serious note, my heart goes out to two friends who lost their dads this week. Paige and Dolores, my thoughts are with you and your families.
